Give A Chit is designed to keep your information private. This policy explains what the app works with, where that information lives, and what we — the developer, Epic Custom Apps — can and cannot see. In short: your data stays in your own Apple iCloud account, and we do not collect it on our own servers, sell it, or use it to track you.

The short version

• Your groups, members, and chit history are stored in your own iCloud account using Apple’s iCloud/CloudKit, not on servers we run.
• Information is shared only with the people you invite to a group.
• We do not sell your data, show ads, or use third-party tracking or analytics.
• You stay in control: you can delete members, groups, and history at any time.

Information the app works with

To do its job — tracking whose turn it is within a group — Give A Chit works with:

• Contact details you add. When you add people to your Member Pool or a group, the app stores the name and, if you provide it, phone number and email. You can type these in yourself, or import them from your device Contacts.
• Group information. Group names, member lists, rotation order, who currently holds the chit, and the history of passes, skips, and changes.

This information is created and used only to make the app work. It is stored in your iCloud account and, for shared groups, in the shared iCloud space that the group’s owner hosts.

Your Contacts

If you choose “Import from Contacts,” the app asks your permission and then lets you pick people to add. Only the people you actually select are copied into your Member Pool. The app does not upload your address book to us, and it does not read your Contacts in the background. You can decline Contacts access and still use the app by entering people manually.

Where your data lives and who can see it

Give A Chit uses Apple’s iCloud and CloudKit to store your data and sync it across your own devices. Group data is shared with other members through Apple’s secure sharing, and is visible only to the people who have been invited to that group. Because the data resides in your and other members’ iCloud accounts, Epic Custom Apps does not have access to the contents of your groups, members, or history. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple’s own privacy policy.

Notifications and messages

• Push notifications let you know when the chit comes to you or the group changes. You can turn these off in iOS Settings.
• Text messages. To invite someone or notify a member without the app, Give A Chit prepares a message and opens your device’s standard Messages screen. You send it from your own phone; the message goes through your carrier or iMessage, and its contents are not sent to us.

What we do not do

• We do not run our own servers that collect your personal data.
• We do not sell, rent, or trade your information.
• We do not use advertising networks or third-party analytics/tracking.
• We do not knowingly collect information from children beyond what you, the user, choose to enter about your group members.

Your choices and deleting data

You control your information inside the app. You can remove people from your Member Pool, remove members from a group, leave a group, or (if you are the owner) delete a group entirely, which removes it for all members. Deleting the app and signing out of iCloud removes its data from your device. Data stored in iCloud can also be managed through your Apple account settings.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will change the effective date above and post the revised version at this address.
